Professor Crawford’s Office Hours
Throughout my career as a university professor, I have observed that the students who learn in the classroom really benefit from having the chance to work with me one on one or in small groups outside of the lectures and seminars. That’s why I have always offered my students time to work with me during my office hours.
While some professors rarely speak with their students individually, I always find that these conversations give students the chance to ask questions and discuss ideas that have come up in class; and sometimes, once we discuss these ideas, new ones arise. I am glad to help students come up with strategies for writing their essays and studying for their exams. Over time, I have observed that our meetings sometimes lead to other discussions about how to make wise decisions, how to take responsibility, how to prioritize time, how to communicate ideas in class and in the workplace, how to manage stress, and how to identify and achieve our goals.
For many years I taught a course called “Critical thinking for college,” where these topics formed the focus of a class designed to help the first-year university student develop the so-called “soft skills” that would help the student succeed in their studies. Over the years I have realized that students at all stages of their career, and even people who had completed their studies, were interested in learning how to improve these areas of their lives.
As a coach, I offer this service in Professor Crawford’s Office Hours. Some clients come to me for academic support, and we focus on techniques in writing, speaking, and expressing our ideas. Other clients focus on the skills that help them improve their habits of self-assessment and achievement. I have spent my career teaching people how to improve their relationships with education, with the learning process as a foundation for helping people identify what matters to them, while enhancing their skills as they set their lives in the direction they want.
If you want to succeed in new areas, and you think I might be able to help you in this process, please get in touch with me and we’ll schedule a time for a free consultation.
